We believe that music has the power to create unity, hope and connection amongst people — particularly so in these difficult times. Through art we create a more connected and empathetic community of citizens — a community engaged to help each other.

The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc around the world. Individuals and families are working harder than ever to stay connected and to make ends meet.

Together through music, we can share in our common humanity while cultivating financial support for those in need.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Orchestra Los Angeles wants to bring together the rich talents and cultural resources of our global community to create a way to help those most in need.

We want to draw upon our shared human experience to remind us that we are ALL human and are ALL interconnected. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and its fallout, today we have an opportunity to unite and empower our community through music.

The Amazing Grace Project is a virtual performance combining the traditional hymn Amazing Grace and the composition by LA-based composer Frank Ticheli of the same title. There are two stages to it:

STAGE 1

We invite all musicians – students, amateurs, and professionals – to submit a video recording of yourself singing and/or playing Amazing Grace. Once we’ve received all entries, we’ll stitch each recording together into a single mass performance for the world to experience.

STAGE 2

In early May, we will launch a campaign to raise money for individuals and families critically affected by the coronavirus. Our mass performance – and your musical contributions – will introduce the campaign!

Whether by sharing the Amazing Grace Project on social media, submitting a video to our mass performance, and/or contributing a gift to our fundraising campaign, we hope you will join Orchestra LA on this journey and consider supporting any way that you can.

The talents and treasure contributed to this project will serve our fellow citizens in need. Our shared performance will spread unity, grace, and above all, love.
